So the Catholic church wants to get itself involved with gay marriage and adoption now. I find a lot of hypocrisy in the Vatican with the way they have handled the child sex abuse scandals. Not a lot of morality in the church, so of course they want to preach about another topic. A lot of my asian friends are Catholic, I wonder what they think about it. Religion isn’t much of a conversation maker with me, so I am hesitant to ask.

By the way, I am tentatively scheduling my 1st MCSA test on 8/14. I know I said in an earlier post that I would move this forward by the end of the month, and now I have. :)

My aching rib from last week is almost healed
now….which means I can start working on upper body
at the gym. Been doing Bally’s for 4 days in a row
now…trying to keep the streak alive.

Paid a $50 parking ticket last week, and the next day
I had to move my car to avoid getting another ticket.
The place I moved it to had street cleaning today, so
I had to move it again! Saved $100 by being mindful
of where I am parked.

It’s been a while since I posted, so let me do a quick update.

Bought some new pillows at Bed, Bath and Beyond, and have been sleeping much better. According to this article, you should change your pillows once every year or two, and cheap foam pillows, every 6-8 months. I can’t remember when I bought my last one, so it was definitely time for a change!

The Blogathon was this weekend, and raised $96,000 for charity. Basically you got sponsors and wrote in your blog for 24 hours straight. I might do it next year, we’ll see.

Been putting flyers up in y neighborhood for my web design business. No nibbles yet. If any of you blog readers can get me some clients, I’ll be eternally grateful.

When Uday and Qusay were killed yesterday, one of the brothers 14 year old sons was killed also. In my mind that is a tragedy, but did you see his name was Mustapha? Name sound familiar? That is the name of the baby lion in Lion King! (wait..I just looked that up…Mufasa was the father that was killed. Oh well…I was close…

On a personal note, if men had “times of the month”, I would be in it now. I have no energy, I am irritable and just plain depressed. I think I might be a candidate for some serious medication if this keeps up. :Current mood: Testy

Spent the weekend in Saugatuck, Michigan at a campout with some friends. Saugatuck is a nice town. They zoned out all franchises so there are no McD’s, 7-11’s, etc. All of the shops and stuff are small and don’t have a lot of the commercial buzz that you get in other big cities. Imagine a small lake front town in the 1940’s…diners, gift shops, knick-knacks. And the tax is much less than Chicago! :)
Got some sun, which brings me to a darker shade of white. Now my arms are peeling, but that is from the sun I got 3 weeks ago in the parade? what’s THAT all about?

After actually eating hot dogs last weekend, I went and bought some at the store and had them for dinner last night. Nice change of pace.

Some major storms rolled through Chicago last night. Some places got 2 inches of rain in 15 minutes! They said that this has been the rainiest July EVER in Chicago. Of course…guess who didn’t bring an umbrella to work yesterday.

Sat next to this really rude woman on the train today.  She sat the whold time with her legs partially crossed, so her one foot was in the aisle the whole way.   Wasn’t that bad when the train was half empty, but as it filled, she refused to mover her leg, to the point that people had to step over her leg to move down the aisle! She actually looked annyed that people were bumping into her leg as they went by! AND, she was reading a book so that her elbows were out to the side and poking me the whole way.

Of course, me being the nice guy, I didn’t say anything. ;).

Had a strange dream last night. Went back and worked at TGI Fridays as a waiter (I worked there when i went back to school in Ohio) and on my 1st day we were having an in-store serving competition with 6 other Fridays. We all had on different color vests, it was kind of weird…but I did go to Medieval Times on Saturday so maybe that’s why I had the dream.

Looking forward to Queer Eye for the Straight Guy on Bravo (9 PM CT). Summary : (from the Bravo website) Each week their mission is to transform a style-deficient and culture-deprived straight man from drab to fab in each of their respective categories: fashion, food and wine, interior design, grooming and culture.

It’s a full lifestyle make-over a make better show where straight guys turn in their pleats for flat fronts, learn about wines that dont come in a jug and come to understand why hand soap is not a good shampoo (and vice versa). When the journey is done, a freshly scrubbed, newly enlightened, ultra hip man emerges.
